OK so what is your favorite hand gun to take to the range?
I've over the years mostly shot cheaper handguns, glock style and enjoy them but in the past year I "discovered" 1911a1's and am completely sold on the design. Easily my favorite is my 1943 Remington Rand, the problem is it is in too good of shape to shoot regularly but it shoots great. My next choice and what I an most likely to take to the range is a Thompson/ Auto Ordnance 1911a1 with a factory matched barrel and factory trigger job. A great shooter with some cosmetic flaws but not nearly the value of the Rand so I shoot it a lot more. (I own 2 ww2 era Rands a 43 and a 44)
I don't use the 1911a1's for home defense, I'm a believer that that is a wheel gun's job.

With me it's Glock 17 9mm for the range and my daily carry piece is a Glock 23 40cal.
I've owned others S&W 9mm, Kara P40, Rossi 44spl, Beretta SF92 9mm and a few others. Sold them all but the Beretta, this nice to shoot and work drills when I need a firearm with a manually safety.
But there's nothing like my Glock when it comes to running drills on the range. After tens of thousand of rounds it still preforms flawlessly.

The P22 is a nice handgun, fun and cheap to shot. Easy to manipulate nd accurate I see these more with the lady's in my ccdw courses

Agreed, I also have a P22 in my collection and it is a great "first timer" gun as well. I think I have used it to introduce some 10 or so people to shooting. Lots of fun to shoot.

My daily carry weapon goes to the range, so I can practice with what I carry.

Nice pick JB, the Contender and Encore are great platforms. I don't own one at this time, I sort of did once had 35rem, 22 hornet and .357 mag barrels but never shot it before I gave it away.
Just sold my XP100 in .221 Fireball a few weeks back, neat platform too, not nearly as versatile as the TC though, maybe cooler due to its local DuPont ties, maybe.

Same here but G23 for everyday carry and I train with a G17. The G17 because I used to shoot about 10k rounds a year(between the 17 and a 92SF), last year I only did 4.5K/9mm and 500/40cal. Couldn't find any small pistol primers:mad:

Favorite is 1911 (commander or fullsize, not a big fan of the compact ones - exception to the EMPs), next is the Glock 29SF 10mm. I use my Glock mostly during the summer when dressing for IWB and really hot outside. Both see pretty decent range time.
